Retro Only was started as a resource to help people just like you get the answers to their questions about retro Music, arcade machine, video game consoles, toys, board games, and more. Over the years we have expanded to include some more modern products but have tried to keep the retro theme.

Hi, I’m Matt the founder of Retro Only. When browsing the internet trying to find answers to my questions about some of my older video game consoles (my NES specifically) I discovered that there wasn’t a whole lot of info.

The other issue that I ran into was that much of the information online about these retro consoles was written by people who had never even seen or played on the consoles or things they were writing about.

That is what spawned the idea to start this site.

Over the years the consoles, board games, and toys that my family and I have used evolved. While I used to play on the NES, SNES, N64, etc. all of the time, with the release of Nintendo Switch Online and being able to play many of those games on a modern console I started writing and answering questions about that one as well.

Although I want to always do my best to answer questions about retro products like record players, jukeboxes, Ataris, and more as the world changes what is considered retro has changed with time as well.

The consoles that I loved playing as a child (the NES, SNES, Sega Genesis, etc.) are now all considered to be retro consoles. The games that I enjoyed playing (Mario Duck Hunt, Donkey Kong, Kirby, etc.) are now considered retro by many people as well.

So although I’m still committed to writing about retro products I also want to help out those people who play retro games on modern consoles.

I hope that you find this website and all of the articles on it helpful. If you have any questions or comments on any of the articles feel free to let us know via the comments or by sending us an email.
