What do people think about the Nintendo Labo?

Ever since the Nintendo Labo was announced, there have been two types of reactions that we usually hear. The first is “Wow, this is extremely amazing”.  The second one is “It’s just a piece of cardboard”. If you’re a fan of the Nintendo but really not getting the concept of using cardboard, then you should try it out yourself.

The Nintendo Labo comes with software (Worth $60) and the cardboard set (Worth $10 to $20) depending on the type of kit you want. So, it’s a little bit expensive if you think about it as just cardboard.

The number of dollars you spend on buying the “cardboard” might seem quite steep but the cardboard that Nintendo puts out is much better than what you could do yourself in most cases.

If you don’t want to spend your money on “cardboard” you can actually give the Labo a try by yourself. They are easy to make; just grab any box and begin. You only need normal cardboard and the time and skill to try and build it. In the video below you can see someone test out something they built themselves.

It certainly doesn’t work as well as the Nintendo Labo but you can’t beat the price!

The following items are the things you’re going to get when paying $60 for Labo and 10-20$ for Cardboard:

Good and Bad things about the Nintendo Labo

There’s always good and bad in everything, and that is why it’s important to try and learn as much as you can before you buy the Labo. So, let’s break down the good and bad things about Nintendo Labo.

Good Things

There are a variety of good things about the Labo. It is extremely fun and consists of a quite engaging building process. Each cardboard set that you buy offers you a new building and great playing experience. All of the creative programming tools of the Nintendo Labo allow a lot of customization and the vehicle kit is outstanding as well.

These kits are a great way to spend a weekend with your kids building and decorating and then having fun with them!

Bad things

Some of the games that Nintendo allows you to play on the Labo are too open ended. There are also times when you have to hold the Nintendo too much or not enough. If you choose the wrong kit then you might end up being disappointed and it certainly can require some time and hands on skill to get exactly right.

Conclusion

Now that you know about the Nintendo Labo and how it works with the Nintendo Switch, you can decide for yourself what you think about the Labo. The quality of the Labo kit is actually quite sturdy, and even though it is just cardboard, it is high quality cardboard that is precisely designed to fit and work together with the Switch.

Many people do not think that the cardboard of the Nintendo Labo kit is worth the price that Nintendo charges for them but ultimately that is a personal decision.

Although the kit is made of cardboard, these kits are designed to hold up to a lot of use, as well as all the internal working parts of the kit. Not only does the kit have the cardboard with it, but it is specifically designed to fit together as well to work properly with your Nintendo Switch. The Switch can easily pick up on the Labo movements and will show on the screen exactly where you are.

Although you would not expect the cardboard to be so responsive, it is literally instantaneous.

Now you know the Nintendo Labo not only includes cardboard, but it also includes all the technology that goes into making one of these kits. These kits are able to be customized, but are also fun to put together and play. Even though some people do not like the Labo, most of the time it is only because they have not actually ever played the Switch using the Nintendo Labo kit.

There is nothing quite so enjoyable as bringing back memories from your childhood. We used to spend hours playing pinball in my friends basement and that really got me involved in everything retro!
