What is hyper transformation
By picking all seven super emeralds from the special stages, each of the three major playable characters must access to more powerful forms upon summoning the power of the emeralds.
For the super transformation the player must have collected fifty rings and then press the jump button during a jump to initiate the transformation.
As under the transformation one ring is used per second and once the player has zero rings complete the act or enters a bonus stage at a star post, the user will revert back to normal.

The player can play as knuckles in the Sonic the Hedgehog 3 levels, although Knuckles opening has been removed in favor of transiting from launch base to Mushroom Hill.
Knuckles level layouts are various types from Sonic and Tails in most cases, with new areas and bosses that are generally more challenging than Sonic’s bosses.
Knuckles does not face a boss at Carnival Night zone act two and has to jump on the capsule switch to clear the act.
It is still possible for Knuckles to fight the boss that Sonic and Tails normally fight in their version.
In the Sonic and Knuckles levels, the player can play as Tails.
After the levels of Sonic the Hedgehog 3 are complete, the screen scrolls downward with the death egg falling rather than playing the normal ending animation and gameplay immediately proceeds to the level of sonic and Knuckles.
Game progress can be saved at any level using the save feature from Sonic the Hedgehog 3.
Save slots now display information about the number of continues, and lives. The chaos emeralds surround the player’s character as the player collects them.

Hyper Sonic is simply an improved form of Super Sonic. There are no special features in it so Sega can do without it. Now that you know about Sonic and Hyper Sonic and why they got rid of him, you can see that it does not look like he will be coming back.
Although they had good reasons for getting rid of Hyper Sonic, it never makes it easier for gamers to lose one of their character forms that they liked.
If Sonic would have continued to take on new forms though, he would have simply turned into a second Dragon Ball game. This is not what Sega wanted which is another reason they had to get rid of Hyper Sonic.
