Have you been playing on a banned Switch, and you were wondering how you could update it? Maybe one of your friends just had their console banned and they now want to know if they can still update their console.

So how do you update a banned Nintendo Switch?

Unfortunately, when your Switch has been banned, you can no longer update your console through the Nintendo system. In order to update your system, you will need to use Homebrew to update it.

If only your Nintendo account or profile has been banned or suspended because of your saying some bad words, racial slurs, words of a sexual nature, or other common reasons you will want to wait to update your Switch until that suspension has been lifted or until you create a new account.

A Nintendo account suspension is normally lifted after a certain number of days so it isn’t worth it to use custom firmware (CFW) to update your Switch if it is only temporarily suspended or banned.

However, if your Switch console has been banned from the official Nintendo servers and you don’t just have a suspended account you will have to do a workaround using the homebrew menu to update your Switch console to the new firmware version.

Below in this article, we will give you the exact instructions to update your Nintendo Switch.  If you want to know more about updating your banned Switch, you will want to keep reading.

How to Update a Banned Switch?

Having a banned Switch is not only annoying but is actually super sad. You don’t realize how much you miss something until you don’t have it. If you want to know how to update a Nintendo Switch that has been banned, then you will want to follow the steps below.

It is fairly easy to do, but you must make sure you follow the guidelines exactly.

Get ChoiDujour NX

For all those who don’t know what this is, it’s a Homebrew application that you can install on your device. You can find this one online and don’t worry it’s not hard to find. With this installed, you can update even a banned Nintendo Switch.

It is quite important as with a banned one you won’t be able to update all your old games and will often not be able to even play newer games. When you get this app though, you can have access to both the new games as well as the updates for the old ones.

Files Procedure

The first thing you need to do is to go to the firmware you actually want to get and download it. Once this is done, make a folder with the same name so that you can spot it easily.

After this, copy all the contents of this Homebrew application into the same folder. It must be filled with tiny documents when you copy the content. This will mean that the Firmware has been successfully transferred to the SD card.

For the next step, you may have to start with your Nintendo Switch. You can use any payload and even Dongle but it depends on the device completely.

Go to the “Album” on the Switch. Now you’ll see an additional application added to the Menu which would be none other than ChoiDujourNX.

Installation Procedure

You’ll find all the files in this folder. Now click the “Choose” option available in the bottom right which will help you in moving ahead. All the files will be scanned by the program in this step so that no necessary file is missed out.

If all the files are present, the upgrading process will begin after going through all the necessary files once again.

Before this, you can choose which format you want to go for and it will be downloaded. It may take some time to update, but when it is done, you will get a summary on your screen about the update. You can complete the update on the system now by just pressing Reboot when the option arrives.

Now you can get back to enjoying all the games you love just like you used to before being banned. It is important that you download the app from a trusted source to ensure no further issues.

The installation procedure must be carried out carefully as missing just one step can make you start it from the beginning.

Risks and Precautions When Updating A Banned Switch

When going for this system of updating an offline/ banned Nintendo Switch, there are a few things that must be considered. You should use AutoRCM throughout the procedure to ensure that the fuse doesn’t burn. You may get caught by the original server leading to banning on your console (if it isn’t already banned).

So it is important that you carry on the procedure with precautions.

Standby battery drain may be noticed because of the use of AutoRCM but it is worth it as you can carry out the procedure with ease.

Getting a fuse is quite common so it increases the need for enabling RCM. You must keep the battery fully charged on your device before starting the installation procedure to make sure you don’t have any interruptions.

You should back up everything onto your PC before beginning as it will be an advantage if anything goes wrong. You must also have at least 30 GB of free space on your device to ensure you don’t face any problems throughout.

You will also want to make sure that if your Switch is banned, that it is banned permanently as using Homebrew will certainly get you banned if you aren’t already.

There would be nothing more frustrating than being on a one-week ban, and then updating your games only to then be permanently banned for using Homebrew.

If your Switch is already banned forever, you have nothing to lose as they cannot ban you for more than forever. By following these tips, you can easily update your Switch.

What Is A Banned Nintendo Switch?

Nintendo is a company known globally for its amazing games. No matter where you look, you can find fans of Nintendo. Nintendo is so well-known because of all the amazing features its consoles and games provide.

You may not be able to find these features anywhere else which is why people buy a Nintendo. Because of its quality, many people stay glued to this one and think twice before switching brands.

A Nintendo Switch is a groundbreaking game console because it allows you to use the Switch as a handheld device or to dock it and use it on your TV. Anyone can get a Switch easily online, and they are quite easy to use and can be used with up to eight different accounts at once as well.

To make sure that no community guidelines are violated, sometimes Nintendo has to ban certain Switches. It is for the best as it helps in keeping everything legal and things fun for everyone.

It could certainly be quite annoying for the owner as they can lose access to the eShop and online games if their Switch is banned. It is quite a big deal for someone who loves playing online.

How Do I Unban My Nintendo Account?

If your Nintendo account has been banned there is really only one thing that you can do and that is to contact Nintendo’s support staff. If the ban was accidentally put in place (which is rare) it can be lifted.

Beyond that Nintendo will rarely lift bans on Nintendo accounts or consoles.

If you find yourself with a banned Nintendo account the first thing you should do is contact Nintendo’s customer support and explain the situation. They will be able to provide you with information on why your account was banned and what steps you need to take (if any) to unban it.

In most cases, a Nintendo account is banned due to a violation of the company’s terms of service or community guidelines. This can include things like sharing your account with others, engaging in cheating or hacking, or participating in activities that are against the rules.

If your account was banned due to an error or mistake, Nintendo customer support will be able to help you unban it. You may need to provide proof that the ban was not justified, such as receipts or other documentation, in order to have your account reinstated.

Regardless of the reason for your ban, it is important to be patient and cooperate with Nintendo customer support in order to have your account unbanned. They will be able to provide you with the information you need and guide you through the process of getting your account reinstated.

What Happens If My Switch Gets Banned?

If your Switch gets banned, it means that Nintendo has permanently barred your device from accessing its online services and content. This means you will no longer be able to download any new games or updates, access online multiplayer modes, or use any of the Switch’s other online features.

In most cases, a ban is issued due to violations of the Nintendo Switch User Agreement or Code of Conduct. This could include things like hacking, cheating, or sharing pirated content. If you are found to have violated these terms, you will receive a notification from Nintendo stating that your Switch has been banned.

If your Switch gets banned, you will still be able to play any games that you have already downloaded and installed on your device (or Switch cartridges). However, you will no longer be able to receive any updates or support for those games, and you will not be able to access any online features or content.

This means that you may not be able to access certain features or content in your games, and you will not be able to play them online with other players.

What Do I Do If My Nintendo Switch Won’t Update?

If your Nintendo Switch won’t update, there are a few steps you can take to try and fix the issue.

First, make sure your Switch is connected to the internet. If you are using a wireless connection, try moving closer to the router to improve the signal. If you are using a wired connection, make sure the cables are securely connected.

Next, try restarting your Switch. This can sometimes resolve issues with updates. To do this, hold down the power button on the top of the Switch until the power menu appears. Select “Power Options” and then “Restart.”

If the issue persists, you can try resetting your Switch’s internet settings. To do this, go to “System Settings” and then “Internet.” Select “Internet Settings” and then “Reset to Default Settings.” This will reset your internet connection and may resolve any issues with updating the Switch.

If the problem continues, you may need to perform a system update using a separate device. To do this, visit the Nintendo website and download the latest system update for the Switch. Then, using a computer or other device, transfer the update to a microSD card and insert it into the Switch. From the home screen, select “System Settings” and then “System.” Select “System Update” and follow the on-screen instructions to perform the update.

If all else fails, you may need to contact Nintendo customer support for assistance.

Now that you know about updating your banned Nintendo Switch, you can update it and continue to play all the games you love to play with all of the newest updates.

Although having a banned Switch is an inconvenience, if you continue to use Homebrew and other options, you will find out that you can play with other people still online just using a different platform than Nintendo.

The other option that you have if you have a banned Switch is to sell your Switch to someone and then buy a brand-new one. This will allow you to play online again and have all of the access you did before. You will obviously want to make sure that you do not get this new Switch account or console banned as well.

No matter if you like the bans from Nintendo or not, you have to enjoy the fact that they are trying to keep their platform free from cheaters and scammers to make sure everyone can enjoy playing games and being online with each other.
